Although Studley Royal is primarily a pheasant shoot, some partridges are released where the terrain allows. There are three separate days shooting across four thousand acres , with drives in the Abbey Grounds taking place on Fridays
There is usually a maximum of eight Guns per shoot, and although the format is tailored to individual shoot days there are typically three to four drives before lunch and two drives thereafter.
A Typical Day
Typically we meet at 9am for tea and coffee before starting the day by shooting two drives. We then pause for a mid-morning snack and then shoot a further two drives. For lunch we have a delicious home-cooked meal within the beautiful surroundings of the estate which is followed by the final two drives of the day.
This may vary with the progress of the bag and the time of year.
